It’s a great thing that BMW has come up with because it’s new and exciting for all of their consumers who legit wanted such kind of technology to be added to cars.

One of the coolest things about this color change concept is that in the future a driver can change the color with the push of a button.

Yes! It’s not like an ordinary change in which you have to pay thousands of dollars to get your favorite color.

BMW brought this concept with their new electric SUV, the electronic paper technology used in e-readers, and the old Pebble watch.

The company said, “A white surface reflects a lot more sunlight than a black one, by implication, heating of the vehicle and passenger compartment as a result of strong sunlight and high outside temperatures can be reduced by changing the exterior to a light color.”

BMW is raising the bar every year, last year BMW already introduced the BMW XM concept car which made it to the headline.

From what material is made of?

To clear the air, some might be thinking about what kind of material is used in it to make this happen. No doubt, BMW relies on Electric Ink, but the surface must contain some stuff that allows this feature to work.

If you are aware of Kindle, the E-Ink is commonly used in it and most people know how it works.

As per the company’s brief on the material that has been used on the BMW iX surface. “The surface coating of the BMW iX Flow featuring E Ink contains many millions of microcapsules, with a diameter equivalent to the thickness of a human hair. Each of these microcapsules contains negatively charged white pigments and positively charged black pigments.”

BMW also let the audience know that as per the experiment for now the colors are limited to black, white, and grey. BMW also said, that “it’s an advance research and design project”.
