Ford is known for its outstanding vehicles, but one beautiful piece keeps Ford on top, and that’s the Mustang.
Ford’s Mustang has been in the racing ever since the original pony won the 1964 Tour de France Automobile in the Touring Car category.
In 2025, more than 60 years later, the company decided to launch the Mustang GTD to great fanfare and revealed this special edition Spirit of America variant at the 2025 Detroit auto show to celebrate motorsports heritage.
Ford Mustang GTD Spirit of America – Special Edition
For those who don’t know, the Spirit of America name is taken from the jet-powered land speed record-setting vehicles engineered by racing legend Craig Breedlove.
As per the Ford, Breedlove’s attitude and ingenuity serve as the inspiration for the Mustang GTD. Breedlove passed away in April 2023. But he left his legacy as he was the first person to break the 500-mph and 600-mph land speed records.
Last year, Ford redeveloped the Mustang GT with a new design & engine that captured everyone’s attention.
Supercharged Powerful Engine & Exterior
The Mustang GTD is already one of the powerful beasts with an 815 HP supercharged V-8. The Spirit of America editions get no additional horsepower boost. Rather than investing much more in speed, Ford went with exposed carbon-fiber exterior bits to improve aerodynamics and downforce.
The aerodynamics include a front splitter and a rear diffuser. Still, the center of attention is the car’s rear wing, which is rendered in naked carbon fiber and features a giant MUSTANG script on the backside. With that wing, anyone will know what kind of car you are driving.
Coming to the color scheme, a pair of race red and lighting Blue racing stripes are contrasted by Performance White paint across the rest of the body and recalls the tribar Mustang logo that officially debuted on the original car back in 1964.
All Spirit of America models will also come with the Performance package, unique sports seats with Black Onyx upholstery with red, white, and blue accents, and Victory Blue paddle shifters.

Up till now Ford hasn’t announced a price for the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, but remember it won’t be cheap. As per the expected price range, standard model might come with over $300,000 price tag. This special edition model is specific to be both more expensive and rate in every manner.
