Originally developed to be seen in a virtual racing game, this project was designed by a group of young designers at Nissan Design Europe in London and turned out to be so successful that it caught the eyes of the engineers at the Nissan Technical Center in Japan.

The engineers saw the potential of an actual life-size car in this virtual car and put the concept through a number of tests which further confirmed their affirmation of this car being competent enough to be developed into a 3D model.

This led the creators to release the model version of this car at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2014 and further went on to re-release the same version of this car with a few updates at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show in 2015.

NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

The design of the car is inspired by the theme of the movie itself and showcases the interaction between the driver and their vehicle. This car, although one of its kind, is still like many other Mercedes Vision Concepts and is a dream come true because of what it represents for the future of automobiles.

The Design:

The new Vision 2020 Gran Turismo model showcases a few upgrades over the previous version of the car which was released in 2014. It comes bearing a brand new red color which the brand has named “Fire Knight” leaving behind the previous silver hue.

NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

“The NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo is a combination of designer intuition and detailed technical evaluation, a vision, a possibility, and a proposal made by Nissan for the coming future.”

A few changes have also been made to the interior such as the new V-motion grille at the front. There is also a Carbon fiber chin spoiler with wheels that have been completely blacked out with orange brake calipers.

The design of this new Nissan GT albeit too futuristic to produce into an actual functioning car but it had been stated by the company that a few of the design cues will be taken from this car and will be implemented in the upcoming GT-R series and the more interesting thing to see about the future of the next generation GTR would be how they choose to tone down the rather striking design of this car so that it can adapt all the specifications of the future GTR.

They also said that it will go on to use the same hardware that’s been installed in the GT-R LM NISMO racecar but will probably reduce it up to 515 kW which is going to be generated by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine which will work together with an electric motor, making the car faster than ever and eco-friendly as well

Final Outlook:

Although the car was developed for the sole reason of being driven in a virtual game only as Nissan went on to develop this into an actual car, this car now gives us a glimpse of what a supercar from the future will be like and if you are interested in finding what driving this car would feel like then I suggest you to play the game it’s based on, which is Gran Turismo 6.
